Agrigento & Scala dei Turchi — Day Trip from Catania

Discover Agrigento's ancient Valley of the Temples and the white cliffs of Scala dei Turchi on a private full-day excursion from Catania, with a scenic coastal stop.

Highlights

  • Valley of the Temples
  • Scala dei Turchi Viewpoint
  • Two Sicilian Landscapes

Overview

Travel across Sicily from Catania to Agrigento for a full day combining the classical world and dramatic Mediterranean scenery. At the Valley of the Temples, explore the UNESCO-listed archaeological park independently, with time to see outstanding ancient Greek monuments such as the Temple of Concordia and the Temple of Juno. The site is extensive and exposed, so comfortable footwear and water are essential. After an independent lunch or refreshment break, continue to the coast near Realmonte to admire Scala dei Turchi, the striking white marl cliff shaped into broad natural terraces above the sea. Access to the cliff itself is regulated and may be restricted or closed; the programme includes a suitable public panoramic viewpoint rather than promising to walk on the protected formation. Return to Catania with ample time for the long cross-island journey. Private transport is included, while tickets, specialist guiding and meals are excluded.

The combination of Agrigento and Scala dei Turchi is attractive but geographically demanding from Catania, which is why the programme allows a full ten hours rather than advertising a rushed half-day visit. The archaeological park deserves a meaningful stop, and Scala dei Turchi is treated as a scenic protected coastal landmark rather than a place where visitors can automatically walk on the white terraces. Current municipal access restrictions must always be respected.
