Valley of the Temples — Private Day Trip from Palermo

Travel from Palermo to ancient Agrigento and explore the UNESCO-listed Valley of the Temples on a private full-day excursion with independent time at the archaeological park.

Highlights

  • UNESCO Valley of the Temples
  • The Temple of Concordia
  • Private Return from Palermo

Overview

Discover one of Sicily's greatest archaeological sites on a private excursion from Palermo to Agrigento. Travel across the island's interior to the Valley of the Temples, where the Greek city of Akragas once stood above the coast. Explore the monumental archaeological landscape at your own pace, including the remarkable Temple of Concordia and the remains of other ancient sanctuaries. The park is extensive, with exposed walking paths and areas of uneven ground, so a well-planned route is preferable to rushing across the site. After the archaeological visit, enjoy time for lunch or refreshments at your own expense before the return journey to Palermo. The programme intentionally focuses on the Valley itself rather than combining it with additional distant sites. Transport and a private driver are included; archaeological admission and a licensed guide are not automatically provided.

The setting adds considerably to the experience. The ancient temples occupy a broad ridge above the countryside, making it possible to understand the scale of Akragas and the importance of its sanctuaries in the Greek Mediterranean. Visitors should expect a substantial outdoor walk rather than a museum-style visit. If an archaeological guide is requested, the programme can be adjusted to focus on the monuments most relevant to the group's interests.
