From Cefalù: Manna of the Madonie & Tasting

Discover the Madonie’s rare manna tradition with a local producer near Pollina and Castelbuono. Visit the production area and sample pure manna and traditional sweets.

Highlights

  • The Madonie’s White Gold
  • Meet a Manna Producer
  • Taste a Distinctive Ingredient

Overview

In the countryside between Pollina and Castelbuono, manna is part of a remarkable Sicilian agricultural tradition. Collected from carefully tended ash trees, this naturally sweet substance has long been valued by local communities and is still associated with a small number of specialist producers in the Madonie.

Travel from Cefalù to meet a local producer and explore the story of manna where it originates. Learn how the trees are cared for, how the product is traditionally collected and why the seasonal cycle matters. The visit focuses on an authentic explanation of the craft rather than promising live harvesting throughout the year: harvesting can only be observed when conditions and the season permit.

Taste pure manna and traditional manna-based sweets, discovering their delicate flavour and place in regional food culture. A supplementary manna-inspired beauty activity can be requested separately but is not included in the standard excursion. The final producer venue is agreed in advance.
